So last night I started my first shift. If you want to know, it was hell. I received no training, even though I was told I was supposed to go through a training course. I was pretty much thrown to the wolves and was expected to do things I had no experience or training in doing, such as carrying big trays filled with food, expected to know brand names of wines. I mean, the guy who was our boss for the night answered questions if I had them, but it was pretty much a "you see this, do it," experience, rather than me just following someone and learning that way. Needless to say I almost caused a scene when I almost dropped a tray with people's orders. I was partnered with a girl to do a certain section, but to be perfectly honest, I felt like I did all the work. She'd literally stand by a wall and tell me "go take care of that table." I'd do that, and she'd just be standing by the wall. She actually did end up doing some work, but nowhere near as much as I did. She even told me they were supposed to put me through an actual training course and I shouldn't have been working that night since I had absolutely no experience. It kind of pissed me off, but by that point it was too late to throw a bitch fit about it. I first got there at about 2:50 pm. I was supposed to be there by 3:00 pm, so I was early, which is fine, but somehow I was the last person to show up. They were all setting up for the banquet, and the only thing they really taught me was how to set up the tables, but apparently from what I heard that wasn't the only setup style they used so I still need to learn the others. There definitely was a vibe of people not sure of what they were supposed to be doing. We were all told to put napkins in the white wine glasses, then when we were all eating, yes they actually feed us, we were told that we basically fucked up and have to take all the napkins out and place them in the red wine glasses. Needless to say that felt extremely tedious. I felt like a jackass because I wore these really nice dress shoes and everyone else was wearing sneakers. The dress shoes fit fine but needless to say that if I knew I could just wear my sneakers, I would. Next we had to put on aprons and bow ties. Of course we had a hard time finding a bow tie that fit around my neck. We finally found one after ravaging the bag of bow ties. According to the guy I was working for last night, I'm not a very handsome man, as he felt the need to tell me so. I'm sure it was all in good jest as he definitely said it in a light-hearted manner, but it was still unnecessary. Throughout the actual banquet itself I was having trouble moving around because my feet and back were killing me. I definitely felt like I was in some serious pain and it was very hard for me to move. Of course the girl I was working with was telling me I need to become faster. That's easy for you to say when you are just sitting by a wall and only doing a fraction of the work I was doing, on my first day no less. Needless to say, working last night was not a fun or enjoyable experience at all. Hopefully the pay will be good, but I have a feeling my check is going to get butchered to hell due to the fact that I have taxes and union taken out of my check and I only worked 6 hours. The whole thing ended at 9:00 pm, even though I was scheduled to work until 9:30 pm. One of the guys I worked with, a kid named Dan, told me that last time he actually worked was back in January, and he's been working there for 2 years already. He told me that the past 2 years have been busy, but this year has been slow due to the recession. That's definitely not a good sign, but at least I'll also have my summer job to fall back in in regards to making money for the time being. Needless to say my feet were killing me all night long. It was really hard to sleep because of it. I actually woke up at 2:00 am this morning because my feet were still killing me. Anyway, that's enough bitching about work.
In Youtube news, I'll be doing 2 episodes of Pokemon FireRed today. I don't really feel like doing them, but I will because I'm sure my subscribers are getting restless from a lack of an episode yesterday.
In regards to pro wrestling, I have nothing to write about at the moment because I was only able to catch the last hour. I'm going to watch both TNA Impact as well as Monday Night Raw in their entirety today and give a much better analysis to them tomorrow as well as an analysis on NXT.
That's pretty much all I have to talk about today so until next time, take care.
